Assistant Coach
Job Description:
RowLA is a non-profit community-based organization that strives to empower young women from diverse communities across Los Angeles through intensive rowing activities. Our mission is to provide a pathway to college through the sport of rowing, offering our athletes opportunities for personal growth and academic achievement.
RowLA is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Coach to work under the Head Coach to support the growth of our junior programs. We are looking for someone who is passionate about rowing and excited to help support and motivate middle and high school athletes.
Requirements:
Prior rowing coaching experience with sculling & sweeping preferred
CPR & First Aid Certification
Successful Completion of Background Check and Safe Sport Training
Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment
Knowledgeable of safety protocols and ensure the safety of rowers and equipment
Be able to lift/carry 45lbs
Reliable with excellent communication skills
Duties:
Adhere to work schedule hours on a timely basis
Follow training plan provided by Head Coach and participate in Coach meetings
Report to Head Coach regarding all RowLA matters
Implement RowLA Pillars methodology
Work collaboratively with all coaches
Teach the basics of sculling and safety on the water
Instruct athletes in proper handling and care of all equipment
Ensure that all equipment is stored correctly and safely
Maintain a positive coaching environment for athletes
Be willing to occasionally stay after hours as necessary and assist at local regattas
